Short Statement: The management and conduct of Involuntary Resettlement programs is increasing in recognition as a specialized discipline. Like a transplanted seedling Many displaced persons affected by large projects need to have some special attention for a while until they are firmly rooted in the new location. Some of the special attention they need may involve infringement on their property rights. The handling of the apparent conflict between the interests and rights of displaced persons is my main area on interest in Displacement & Resettlement.
Displacement Experience: I have been involved in implementation of a comprehensive Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) under the Bujagali Hydro Power Project and the Bujagali Interconnection Project in Uganda. Having a legal background, My area of focus in these projects involved the the legal/social issues arising in the resettlement process.
